De Swaen has been described as “musical fundamentalists”.
Our performance decisions were not based on what has - for whatever reasons of convenience, innocence, indifference, commerce or denial - become common practice in Historically Informed Performance (HIP), but rather on what we consider the bulk of evidence suggests.

It may take a few minutes to adjust to hard-core-baroque-sound, but it’s worth the wait!

Since 2001 Barokensemble De Swaen has organised its own concert series in which the cantatas of J.S. Bach are performed with the vocal and instrumental music of Bach’s contemporaries. De Swaen also performs in extra concerts in the Netherlands and abroad, sometimes in cooperation with (chamber) choirs.
